A Data Hiding Scheme based on Local Coordinate System for 3D Triangle Mesh Models

Shanchao Yang, Zhiqiang Yao

Abstract

In this paper, a new local coordinate system is constructed, based on which a data hiding scheme for 3D triangle mesh models is proposed. Obtained by the vertex and its 1-ring neighbors rather than by only its 1-ring neighbors, the local coordinate system can represent the local geometry better and visual quality of 3D model can be controlled better when message is embedded. Message is embedded by modifying coordinates of the central vertex. Therefore, special design is made so that the coordinate system remains unchanged when 3D model is embedded. Based on local feature of the 3D model, the local coordinate system is independent with RST (rotation, uniform scaling, translation) transformation, so the algorithm is also resilient to RST attack. Combining the local coordinate system with a special quantization technique, the high capacity performance of the date hiding algorithm is achieved. So the paper has three properties: good imperceptibility, high capacity and robustness against RST attack, these properties are proved by experimental results.
